USAGE:
(1.) Наречие definitely отностся к группе усилительных наречий: certainly, surely, definitely, naturally. Наречие definitely обычно перед определяемым словом. (2.) Definitely усиливает высказанное утверждение: the paintings were definitely not for sale картины определенно/без сомнения/конечно же не продавались/были не для продажи; the call definitely came from your phone телефонный вызов был сделан, бесспорно, с вашего телефона. (3.) Для выражения уверенности в том, что было сказано, чаще используется certainly: she was certainly the best student она, конечно же, была лучшей студенткой. Для выражения уверенности в том, что событие произойдет, употребляются certainly и definitely, но не surely: the conference will certainly/definitely be postponed конференция наверняка будет отложена. Naturally подчеркивает соответствие описываемого события ожиданиям: the child was crying, so naturally mother was upset ребенок плакал и мама, естественно, была расстроена. Surely выражает надежду или точку зрения, допускающую некоторое сомнение, возможность ошибки: we've surely met somewhere мы, я уверен, где-то встречались. (4.) See certainly, adv; USAGE (1.).
